      Hallo ihr,

      ich wollte mir langsam mal wieder neue [lexicon]Poi[/lexicon] bauen und gerne mal den Solaris [lexicon]Poi[/lexicon] von Bearclaw ausprobieren...
      Allerdings kriege ich den nicht gefaltet...weiß jemand, ob der mit einem oder zwei (wie z.B. Cathedral Poi) Dochten gemacht wird? Welche Dochtbreite ist am besten? Und noch besser: Hat den schonmal jemand gespielt? Unterscheidet er sich im Gegensatz zu Cathedral [lexicon]Poi[/lexicon] in Brenndauer und Flammgröße?

      Ich habe den "Solaris" mit drei Dochten gemacht. Wir nennen es "Tri-fold (Accordion)." Ob es die Muehe wert ist, weiss ich nicht. Ich glaube dass er ein bisschen "schwach (flimsy)" ist. Cathedral und Accordion wicks sind fester. Es wuerde viel Zeit brauchen, auf deutsch zu erklaeren.

      When one folds an Accordion wick, the tape wick folds perfectly onto itself. When one folds a Cathedral (a two-tape Accordion), the wicks fold perfectly onto each other, because they are at right-angles to each other (i.e., perpendicular). With the Solaris / Tri-fold Accordion, there are gaps because of the angles. That is, the surfaces of the three tapes do not match up well. This is why you see a crease in the picture in the middle of each wick; pulling the wick tight causes the crease because there is nothing holding the wick back.

      I feel that Cathedral (Duo-Fold) wicks are the best, as they are easiest to control the overall quality.

      ich habe viele gebaut, und benutzen 50mm. In Amerika, benutzen die meisten Leute 2 inches (~50mm) x 1/8 inch (~3.2mm) x 8 feet (~2.4m) fuer mittleres Feuer. Wenn Sie viel Feuer gern haben, benutzen Sie 64mm oder mehr. Ich koennte noch eine Anleitung schreiben...

      sorry for getting back to you that late. Somehow I lost sight of this Thread...*apologizingoncemore* :rolleyes:
      Well, thank you very much for your hints.
      After reading them, I decided to build the Cathedral [lexicon]Poi[/lexicon].
      Hopefully 8feet of wick (4feet each,i guess) doesnt get too heavy when it´s soaked...
      Would you recommend to use some glue to brace the first & the last Layer of wick? Or would a screw pierced through the wick´s middle be enough?
      Another tutorial (I already enjoyed the other ones) would be greeeaaat :D
      BTW: What kind of glue do you use for the Monkey Fist´s and Torch´s braces?
      Is it the same one uses to assemble furniture parts? *thinkingofmyIKEAshelf*
